From Happy to Happiest: Take a Cue from Szybist and Duchamp
We loved Mary Szybist’s poem Happy Ideas so much that we thought it would be fun to offer a “Happy Ideas” poetry prompt series. You can see the whole series at The Write to Poetry. And you can read Mary’s whole poem at Every Day Poems.
Szybist got her inspiration from Marcel Duchamp. (Did you know that Duchamp and Wallace Stevens were friends?) You can take your inspiration from Duchamp, too.
Try It: Happy Ideas Poetry Prompts
Prompt 1: Duchamp in the Kitchen (wherein you join two unexpected kitchen items inside a poem)
Prompt 2: Suspense (for paid subscribers)
